OK, the long search is over (for now), I finally decided on a Surfboard, and bought it…
It’s shaped by Eric Arakawa (who happens to be a Christian, as I just found out while checking how his name was spelled…) from Island Creations in Hawaai, is 6′7″ long and in a real good condition. and I got it for just 158 euros including a leash and a sock. A real good deal. Everybody told me I’ll have a hard time learning with the small boards, and I should take some lessons, and start on a bigger board, with a round tip. Anyway, I did buy a slightly larger board than I first wanted, but I’m still going to have to learn the hard way. But since I’m a patient guy, and need the workout, I figured I’d take the challenge.
Anyway, there weren’t any good waves today, and that combined with the fact that I still suck at surfing, did not lead to a great first try here in Las Americas. But Friday and sunday is supposed to be much better, so I’ll try again then, and till then practise my paddling in Las Galletas, where there’s usually not so many waves. We’ll see how this goes on, and I’ll keep you posted.
